課程概述

This course introduces the basic biology of the true fungi and other groups of organisms traditionally classified with the fungi. Particular emphasis will be placed on the impact of fungi on human affairs. The last part will be focused on the advantage of fungi as a model organism for molecular biology. Topics covered in this course include taxonomy, ecology, physiology, genetics and molecular biology of the major classes of fungi.  

課程目標
 (1) To outline the higher taxonomy of the fungi and how the fungi relate to other organisms. (2) To understand the importance of fungi in various ecological roles and how fungi impact human affairs based on the characteristics of the major classes and orders within the fungal kingdom. (3) To get insights on various molecular techniques used for fungal genetics and biology with the discussion of the advantage using the fungus as a model organism for molecular biology.
